A little bit about me…
I wasn’t always a runner…
Didn’t grow up as an athlete? Me either. In fact, I almost didn’t join my high school cross country team because I was scared to do it alone. But with encouragement from a friend I took the leap and fell in love with running.
One of the things that shocked me the most when I first joined the running community (and you may have experienced this during a road race) is that slower runners are celebrated and valued just as much as the fast runners. In my first ever race, I ran as hard as I could and came in 2nd last. However, I didn’t feel embarrassed because my team was still there cheering for me at the finish line. That high school team made running fun and inclusive for me as a “non-runner”, which allowed me to stay consistent in my training and see massive growth as a runner and athlete. I strive create that same feeling for all runners I work with, so they too can explore their full potential. Whether your goal is finishing your first marathon or finally getting to Boston, I can provide you with the expertise and guidance to get you there.
Where am I now?
Eventually I branched off to create Running with Regnier - with a specific passion for helping runners of all abilities train for half-marathons, marathons and ultra-marathons.
Wanting to enrich my understanding of exercise physiology, I applied for and was accepted to a fully-funded PhD program in Exercise Physiology and Sport Nutrition in the UK in the fall of 2022. I am now back in Calgary, AB and in the final write-up year of my thesis, having spent the last two years in the lab studying the effects of sodium bicarbonate in active females during different phases of the menstrual cycle and the effects of sodium bicarbonate in female runners.

Coaching/ Education
The more I trained, the more competitive I became with my running. By my 3rd and 4th years of high school, I was was one of the top 10 runners in the city. I moved on to train with the university cross country and track teams and joined a triathlon club the following summer. Within the year, I had qualified for and competed in my first Age Group Triathlon World’s competition for team Canada, traveling to London (England), then to Edmonton and Chicago the following two years as well as racing all over Canada.
During my time in University, I completed a Kinesiology degree (BSc. Kin), volunteered in the varsity student trainer program for 3 years to better understand sports related injuries and rehabilitation, achieved my NCCP Coaching certification for Triathlon and Swimming and coached swimming in the university triathlon club.
Wanting to expand my knowledge, I moved to Spain for a year to undertake a Masters of High Performance Sports: Strength and Conditioning and took the opportunity to train with and compete with the local triathlon team.
Back in Canada, I undertook a 200hr internship/ mentorship in strength and conditioning which set the practical foundations I needed to be able to effectively coach athletes in the gym. I later moved on to work as an exercise physiologist + strength coach specifically for endurance athletes where I also coached cycling in an altitude chamber/ advised on altitude training and took over swim coaching for the triathlon club.
